Configuring Dial-up Networking Windows 2000

 

 

1.       Open Network and Dial-Up Connections.  Launch “Make a New Connection”.  The wizard will appear. Click next to continue.

 

 

2.       Select the option for Dial-up to the Internet. Click Next.

 

 

3.       Choose “I want to establish my internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a Local Area Network (LAN).  Click next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.       Select “I connect through a phone line and a modem”.  Click Next.

 

 

5.       Enter the area code and phone number for your local dial-up access.  Click Next.

 

 

6.       Enter your user name in the form of name@automatedcomputers.com and enter your password.  Click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7.       Enter a friendly name (ACCI) for the Dial-up connection.  Click Next.

 

 

8.       Under the “Setup Internet Mail Account” select yes.  Click Next.

 

 

9.       Select create a new account.  Click Next.

10.    Enter your name in the “Display Name” field.  Click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11.    Enter your email address.  Click Next.

 

 

12.    Enter “mail . automatedcomputers . com “ for the incoming and outgoing mail servers.  Ensure that the mail server is set to POP3.  Click Next.

 

 

13.    Enter your account name (do not use @automatedcomputers.com), enter your password.  Click Next

 

 

14. Select Finish.
